Funguje tak, \u017ee vysiela elektromagnetick\u00e9 \u017eiarenie, ktor\u00e9 sa n\u00e1sledne odr\u00e1\u017ea od karos\u00e9rie vozidla sp\u00e4\u0165 mera\u010du. Vyu\u017e\u00edva Dopplerov jav, teda zmenu frekvencie odrazen\u00fdch elektromagnetick\u00fdch v\u013an sp\u00f4soben\u00fa pohybom vozidla vzh\u013eadom na radar. V s\u00fa\u010dasnosti sa v Eur\u00f3pe pou\u017e\u00edvaj\u00fa: K-band, Ka-band a v malej miere je mo\u017en\u00e9 stretn\u00fa\u0165 sa aj so star\u00fdmi radarmi v X-band preto je d\u00f4le\u017eit\u00e9 pred vycestovan\u00edm do zahrani\u010dia zapn\u00fa\u0165 detekciu vo v\u0161etk\u00fdch p\u00e1smach, ktor\u00e9 sa v danej krajine pou\u017e\u00edvaj\u00fa. Naj\u010dastej\u0161ie pou\u017e\u00edvan\u00fdmi s\u00fa v\u0161ak K a Ka p\u00e1sma. Ka p\u00e1smo je pou\u017e\u00edvan\u00e9 prakticky len r\u00fdchlostn\u00fdmi radarmi a falo\u0161n\u00e9 poplachy s\u00fa pomerne zriedkav\u00e9. K p\u00e1smo pou\u017e\u00edvaj\u00fa napr\u00edklad aj zariadenia na automatick\u00e9 otv\u00e1ranie dver\u00ed na benz\u00ednov\u00fdch pump\u00e1ch, bank\u00e1ch, obchodoch a pod. To je d\u00f4vodom pomerne vysok\u00e9ho po\u010dtu falo\u0161n\u00fdch poplachov v K p\u00e1sme predov\u0161etk\u00fdm v mest\u00e1ch. Samozrejme to plat\u00ed len ke\u010f je detekcia K p\u00e1sma v detektore zapnut\u00e1.
